The region of Eastern Senegal is certainly the richest in surprises and scenery. It is a marginal region, very little urbanized due to weak communications networks and its distance from the capital ...

It is the only hilly region of the country and its temperature is always high (+ 40 °). The region has two major cities: Tambacounda and its 78,800 inhabitants is the most important city and Kédougou with its 18,860 inhabitants, the country's major gold panning center. Visiting this area with ADS is also going through the Niokolo Koba park nature reserve and its preserved fauna, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. It is here that you will meet the most typical ethnic groups of the country, the Bassari people and the Bedik people, who fled Fulani and Islam in the 19th century, came to take refuge in these hills which are difficult to access. Very conservative, these ethnic groups, animists and Catholics always preserve their culture and their traditions, like the initiation of young people to the passage of adulthood. Another attraction in this region is the wonderful waterfall in the village of Dindéfelo, a haven of freshness where you can also spot chimpanzees. Different circuits are possible, at your convenience and depending on the time you have. The overall presentation by region, is only for information and allows, I hope, to guide you geographically. It can be sectioned, reorganized according to your expectations.
