Senegal, country of Teranga, is located in West Africa, between Mali, in the East, Mauritania in the North, the Guineas Conakry and Bissau in the South, the Atlantic Ocean in the West, cut in its center through the Gambia.
It covers an area of approximately 197,000 km and is divided into fourteen regions with a population of 15 million inhabitants made up of several ethnic groups which may be found in specific regions but also in perfect cohabitation with other ethnic groups.
The population is made up of 94% of Muslims, Christians, mainly Catholics represent 5% and traditional beliefs (animists) are credited at 1%.
The country is renowned for its religious tolerance.
Crossed by three major rivers (Senegal river, Casamance river, Gambia river). River deltas are home to mangroves and other marsh plants.
To the rhythm of the rivers, we find bolongs and mangroves which constitute numerous islands, natural reserves of fauna with millions of birds.
Climate: Sahelian in the North, becomes tropical in the South.
The forest occupies 30% of the land, 20% is agricultural land, but it is in Casamance that the tropical flora flourishes (palm trees, fruit trees, noble species).
Senegal has several animal parks and nature reserves where you can see, lions, crocodiles, giraffes, elephants, hippos, monkeys, antelopes.
